ROAD TRIP // lake macquarie

Celebrating a friend’s birthday and a road trip north of Sydney was the perfect combination for a winter getaway. I hadn’t been to Lake Macquarie for a long time and there’s so much to see and do. Staying in a cute weatherboard cottage with a nautical theme set the tone. Belmont was a great central spot to the region that is surrounded by the vast lake and many beaches.

Relaxing is easy to do here with long walks by the heads at Swansea and wharf at Valentine. Driving along the coast is a must see where you can stop at lookouts for stunning views of Nine Mile Beach. This long coastline of gorgeous beaches stretches from Redhead down to Blacksmiths. I’m definitely coming back in summer to take full advantage of the outdoors and water activities.
