ECO LIFE // community gardens
Living off the land has been around since the beginning of time but there has been a resurgence in people growing their own food with a focus on living healthier lives. The ultimate dream for many is to live off the grid on a beautiful plot of land (aka Byron Bay). However that's why it's called a dream as many of us stay in the city, but you don't have to abandon your garden aspirations. There are lots of clever solutions for apartment dwellers to create green spaces on balconies, windowsills and vertical walls.
When I moved I had a checklist of home goals and a backyard was one of them. Although it's small, with some planning I think I can transform it into a relaxing spot to entertain as well as having a veggie patch that I can use. Community gardens are a good source of inspiration and vary in layout and design. These examples show a formal and orderly setting or a more rustic and eclectic style. I'm veering towards the latter but in the meantime it's fun doing the research and making mood boards.
